After finishing the HTL für Elektrotechnik in Steyr and 10 years of working on the job with ABB and EBG Mr. Josef Mehler founded the company dealing in electrics in the beginning of 1962 in Wolfern, Upper Austria.

In the beginning years electrical installations and Anlagenbau were the major business of the company. In the early 70s the production of electrical distributers started. Due to the high demands the company soon had to expand. In 1984 a new production site was built on the "Grüne Wiese" in Wolfern.

Today on the 50000 m2 property a 8000 m2 production facility is the main production center in Austria manufacturing all kinds of electrical distribution units. 160 people are employed within the company in Austria.

Since 1990 Mehler has a second outlet in China.
Wuhan with an additional 200 workers employed. This production-site manufactures for the chinese market.
