How it all begann
After attending the Higher Technical Institute for Electrical Engineering in Steyr and gaining 10 years of experience at EBG and ABB (BBC), MR. Komm. R. Josef Mehler founded an electrical company in an old inn in Wolfern, Upper Austria, at the beginning of 1962.

1962
Founding of the company MEHLER.
1966
In 1966, Commercial Councillor Josef Mehler built, according to the regulations at that time, pivotable asbestos cement panels with UZ fuses and neutral protection switches for the in-house requirements of the installations.
1968
Until 1968, it was also common to use wooden crates as construction site connections. Since we had a lot of construction sites, Mr. Commercial Councillor Josef Mehler began producing his own sheet metal construction site distribution boxes for in-house use.
1970er
In the early 1970s, it became a requirement that these needed to be ÖVE certified. After we achieved ÖVE certification, standardized construction site distribution boxes for electrical wholesalers were then produced.
At that time, the serial production of complete meter cabinets, which were also ÖVE certified, began. These were bent by hand using a self-made bending machine, welded with electrodes, and finished with a hammer-finish paint.
1970er
The demand for ME meters and switchgear boxes steadily increased, prompting Mr. Comm. R. Josef Mehler to continuously expand his business and acquire modern machinery. The quality and functionality of the switch cabinets were continuously improved.
1980er
As the demand for orders kept rising, a new facility (hall size 5,000 m²) was built in Wolfern on a "greenfield" in 1984. Over time, the business continued to expand, resulting in a built-up area of approximately 32,000 m² today.
1990
In 1990, Mr. Comm. R. Josef Mehler initiated negotiations in China for the establishment of a joint venture company. At that time, a 10-year contract was concluded (40 % shares for MEHLER, 60 % shares for the Chinese).
1992 - 2002
From 1992 to 2002, production of power distribution units in China specifically for the Asian market began. After the contract expired, this company was closed, and MEHLER built a completely new company on a 3-hectare plot on the outskirts of Wuhan, fully owned by MEHLER Elektrotechnik Ges.m.b.H.
2019
After 27 years of active operations in Asia, we withdrew from China. To ensure a smooth transition for our customers in China, we worked out a transitional solution with our partners in the country.
2021
The new company operates and manufactures under its own new brand in the Asian region. Since that time, there has been no business connection with MEHLER Elektrotechnik Ges.m.b.H. Austria.

Construction of a 400 kWp solar power plant.

Acquisition of an additional automated door seal foaming system for switchgear production.
2018
Investing in the future expansion in metal processing: We are investing in a highly flexible and automated bending center.
Construction of truck garages and intermediate storage spaces. 500 m² of garage and storage hall were newly built.
2016
The first pilot project for electric truck bed cooling on the highway goes into operation.
2015
The senior boss celebrates his 80th birthday.
Start of serial production of the new ECONOMIC low-voltage system.
2014
Expansion of our machinery: Fully automatic punching-nipple center with the ability to process various materials in a single operation.
Market launch of the TSRM V2A/V4A stainless steel modular enclosures.
Successful arc fault testing of the type-tested low-voltage system ECONOMIC and all tests according to EN 61439 requirements.
2014
Complete program for charging infrastructure including all necessary switchgear for energy generation, storage, distribution, metering, and data recording.
Entry into the Asian market for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Expansion of an additional assembly hall with 1,000 m². The expansion provides the opportunity to simultaneously assemble up to 100 units of 19" cabinets.
2013
10th anniversary of MEHLER Electric Wuhan (subsidiary in China).
Market launch of TSRM aluminum modular enclosures in lightweight construction (12-fold profiled).

Introduction of a complete ERP system.
