Circularity at MEHLER - consciously utilising resources
For us, sustainability does not end with production. We think further: from intelligent material recycling and long-lasting product concepts to environmentally friendly packaging and logistics. With targeted measures along the entire value chain, we focus on resource conservation, reuse and low-emission production - for a future that thinks in cycles.

Material utilisation and recycling
At MEHLER Elektrotechnik, we focus on resource-conserving production with a clear focus on recycling. Wherever possible, we return materials such as metal, plastic or packaging to the cycle - efficiently, sorted by type and in co-operation with regional partners.
Recycling of production waste: In 2024, 259.72 tonnes of sheet metal waste were recycled, together with cable remnants and plastics, in cooperation with a regional partner.
We work with regional disposal companies to efficiently return materials such as sheet steel, aluminium, plastics and electronic components to the material cycle.
ARA system participation: Licensed packaging (ARA no. 11171) ensures the recycling of packaging materials in the Austrian take-back system.
Optimised use of materials: Modern nesting programme in sheet metal production reduces offcuts; offcut sheets are also returned to production where possible in order to manufacture small parts from them; in-house awareness-raising on the careful use of materials and recycling.
Reuse of packaging: Materials used (e.g. cardboard packaging) are reused several times.

Extending the product life cycle
Our products are designed to be used as sustainably and for as long as possible - for example through the use of robust materials such as stainless steel, which enables a particularly long service life. The possibility of modernisation and retrofitting also contributes to this: Individual components can be replaced if necessary. The modular design of our enclosures not only facilitates maintenance and customisation, but also allows them to be dismantled at the end of their life cycle. This means that enclosures made of sheet steel or aluminium can be efficiently returned to the circular economy.

Sustainable packaging
We also pay attention to environmental compatibility when it comes to our packaging. The focus is on reusable packaging and the consistent avoidance of plastic. Instead, we rely on sustainable alternatives such as ECO paper tape. Our packaging guidelines are clearly based on the principles of the circular economy: avoidance, reduction and material recycling are at the centre.
Other measures to reduce the CO2 footprint, in addition to the focus on the circular economy
Resource-conserving production processes, e.g. powder recovery for coatings
Separation of production waste by type to improve recyclability
Use of regional raw materials to reduce transport emissions
Own vehicle fleet with high capacity utilisation
Reduction of empty kilometres, targeted route planningUse of modern, low-emission vehicles
(many with Euro 6 or Euro 6+ standard)
Use of electric vehicles for business trips
(e.g. Audi Q4, Skoda Enyaq, Renault Zoe, BMW i4)Free charging facilities at the company site
powered by our own PV system (1.4 MW output)
Sustainable capacity utilisation through collective transport & delivery bundling - on the purchasing side
Reduction of external logistics service providers
better control over emissions and vehicle technologyUse of durable, repairable commercial vehicles
(e.g. Sprinter, Actros), no throw-away strategyLong-term operation and maintenance instead of quick replacement
Contribution to life cycle extensionRegular maintenance to increase efficiency and extend the service life of vehicles
Reduction of fleet emissions through combination with rail transport
